"When it's time to change, then it's time to change, don't fight the tide, come along for the ride, don't ya see?
When it's time to change, you've got to rearrange, who you are into what you're gonna be."
-The Brady Bunch
Hey there & welcome to my site! I'm so excited about this new brand and I'm so excited that you're here. If you've been around a while you may know this shop as Tomorrowland T-shirt authority. while i've had a good 2.5 year run as TTA, as The Brady Bunch once said "when it's time to change, you've got to re-arrange, who you are into what you're gonna be."
When I started TTA, I had wanted to start a small shop for years but found myself spinning my wheels. What should the name be? What kind of designs should I make? How should I print them? I finally found a printer but still had no name and no direction when it came to designs. I had plenty of inspiration but nothing to reign it in. When I finally came up with Tomorrowland T-shirt Authority, I was thrilled! It paid homage to one of the lands I had worked in, the people mover's one time name, and Chicago. It also gave me focus and direction, with most of my initial designs finding their inspiration from Tomorrowland.
It did come with it's drawbacks though - it's a mouthful, it's easy to spell wrong, and with a famous European music festival called Tomorrowland (which is an interesting story in itself for another time) the name that once provided focus now felt restrictive. While theme parks are one of my favorite things, they aren't the only part of me. Keeping all of this in mind, I decided in February to re-brand. And then COVID hit. People were furloughed, laid off, and the last thing on their mind was apparel largely targeted to wear to theme parks, which oh by the way were closed too. On top of that, my printer got so backed up with COVID restrictions and a surge in online shopping that accounts were frozen from adding new products. This actually turned out to be a blessing in disguise.
As 2020 continued on, with social unrest and a demand for justice, combined with a pandemic hitting the world and seeing people care (or not care), it made me continue to evaluate this brand and what I want out of it. It also put things into perspective about what matters, how we feel what we feel, and why it's okay to feel that way. My wonderful friend Sam, @itsallsamantics on IG, has commented to me how much happier she became with her Instagram feed when she stopped compartmentalizing her love of Disney from the other things that make her her, and as my feed has diversified as well, I want my shop to be a part of several narratives, not just one. I also want my shop to reflect me, because ultimately this shop is a part of me. It's a one woman brand, and if you're wearing something I designed you're wearing a piece of Stacy, not just a piece of a theme park conglomerate.
Now that I had a new direction, I had to start thinking of new names. I actually had a different name in mind for a while but it just didn't feel unique enough. However one thing I loved about my alternate name was that if I abbreviated it to sign off, it would be SM, which are my initials. If I included the C from Co., it would be my "unofficial" initials (I'm married & did not change my last name, but I knew he'd appreciate me including him here). So I thought about all the things that inspire me and what I want this brand to be, and finally landed on Sunny Moments Co.
To me, a sunny moment is a cheerful, optimistic, time of excellence; a memory to hold on to when the days aren't so bright; a way to make anywhere your happiest place. My hope for sunny moments co. is that while not every day can be a sunny day, that a piece from sunny moments can evoke a feeling inside you and bring you a memory to hold on to, an imaginary umbrella, to bring you a sunny moment no matter the weather.
Welcome to Sunny Moments Co. I'm happy you're here!
